Discovering our fruit-growing region on a Vespa scooter

LET’S GO!

Once you have chosen your route, it will be entered into a GPS that you can attach to your Vespa. It is important to listen carefully to their explanations about the Vespa and the GPS before leaving!

You always start at Vesparoute, but after a few blocks you end up amidst all kinds of wonderful blossoms! You will love cruising among the blossoms: it’s relaxing, soothing and there’s so much nature to enjoy!

FOOD AND DRINK

You will mainly be riding in the midst of blossoming nature, but there are also a number of nice stops along the way: a castle, a small chapel, a nice bicycle bar, etc. So you can easily stop at a terrace for a glass of refreshing Limburgish beer! The terrace of Chateau de la Motte, for example, is such an ideal stop. You can even spend the night there. Do you like to have a picnic among the blossoms? Vesparoute can also arrange that for you. On your route you will also come across nice brasseries and restaurants. If you drive past Het Lelijke Eendje at Groot-Gelmen, you will undoubtedly feel like stopping and joining in for a meal because of all the delicious smells. According to Steven, this place is highly recommended. You don’t need to fly to the other side of the world for a fun holiday: that’s perfectly possible in Haspengouw!

WHEN?

These are the best times to visit us:

1. Blossoms 
This period fluctuates slightly from year to year, but runs from the beginning of April to the end of May. It’s best to keep an eye on the Facebook page.

2. Cherry harvest 
Our fruit region is at its best again in the months of June & July. That’ s when the cherry picking starts and you can stop your Vespa scooter at a fruit grower’s for fresh cherries!

3. Pear & apple harvest 
By late August and early September it’ s time to harvest the apples and pears!
